Description The BO 20/500 containment booms are circular floating barriers designed to contain floating solid or liquid waste and miscellaneous debris on lakes and at sea. They are easy to install and assemble and intended for use in adverse marine weather conditions. Construction uses PVC-coated polyester fabric. Buoyancy and reserve buoyancy are provided by closed-cell expanded polyester cylindrical floats inserted into the fabric through heat-sealed pockets. A ballasted skirt (appendage) ensures stability and continuity of containment. The fabrication fabric has a tensile strength greater than 5100 N/5 cm. Ballast chains of individual modules can be spliced together to further increase structural strength. The barrier is supplied in standard 20 m modules or in custom sizes as specified by the customer.

Maintenance The simple construction and selected materials mean no special maintenance procedures are normally required. However, a thorough cleaning after each deployment is essential before storage to remove residues and prevent material degradation.

Applications The BO model is suitable for fixed or semi-fixed installations, for example to enclose offshore platforms, outer docks of refineries, or to delimit containment areas in ports and marinas. The barrier is supplied in orange color for visibility.
