Varifold Propellers have taken the market by storm. Regularly fitted by such notable yacht building names as Baltic, Swan, Wally, Moody and Oyster, the complete range of Varifolds has a model for cruiser racing and racing yachts of every size. Varifold is revolutionary in design and brings a revolution to the yachts they are fitted to. Radical reductions in noise and vibration and excellent performance under engine, both ahead and astern, are the result of the propellers unique design. Varifolds have proper helical pitch distribution, including pitch reduction towards the blade tip. This pitch reduction 'unloads' the blade tips and, combined with the skewed blades, greatly reduces noisy pressure pulses against a yachts hull. While some other folding propellers have a helical pitch shape, few have proper sections or pitch distribution. None, put all these requirements into a complete package, except Varifold.
- Diameters up to 1,016 mm or 40"
- For engines rated to 750HP
- Designed for high power sailboats,

A fixed propeller is a sure choice when you know which propeller is the optimum propeller for your application, and when there are no substantial variations in the speed and payload of your boat. Most pleasure boats, some sailboats and many professional vessels are equipped with fixed propellers. These propellers usually range from two-blade to five-blade depending on individual needs. West Mekan calculates and produces fixed propellers of diameters up to 1500mm, and also distributes fixed propellers from a range of manufacturers. Fixed propellers are suitable for speeds up to approximately 40 knots.
Modern motors, with high RPM rates that make the boat capable of reaching great speeds, can make it difficult to find a suitable standard fixed propeller. This because it is not an easy task to find the correct main parameters such as diameter of the propeller, design pitch, pitch distribution and blade area may with this type of propeller. A specially designed fixed propeller can therefore very well prove to be your best option. But even if the fixed propeller is specially designed, the result may not be satisfactory. Our Type FR propeller is a better and more secure choice in such cases.

SCHOTTEL controllable-pitch propellers (SCP), manufactured by SCHOTTEL-Schiffsmaschinen GmbH (formerly WPM), are propulsion systems that can be used with almost any type of vessel. The power spectrum ranges from 600 kW to 30,000 kW, with propeller sizes varying between approximately 1.5 to 8.0 metres.
Advanced calculation methods allow the controllable-pitch propeller systems to be optimally adapted to the vessel’s hull form, thereby maximizing efficiency and minimizing noise generation.
The simple structure of the SCP guarantees a high level of user-friendliness, and the robust design keeps maintenance requirements to a minimum and ensures it a long service life.

The Type FR is a fixed adjustable propeller, and is the best choice when you do not know which propeller is the best for your boat, when a suitable fixed propeller is hard to find, or when there are special requirements to the propeller.
The Type FR propeller is easily adjusted to optimum pitch using two wrenches. Adjusting the propeller to optimum pitch ensures a correct load on the motor, while also providing maximum power and fuel efficiency. In addition, the cost of a Type FR propeller is low compared to buying several fixed propellers in order to find the best one for your application. The Type FR propeller has approximately the same efficiency as a fixed propeller, in some cases even exceeding the fixed propeller's efficiency. When adjusted, it is used in the same way as a fixed propeller.
Fixed adjustable propellers are used for all types of boats, and usually have three or four blades. West Mekan calculates and produces these propellers in diameters of up to 1500mm, for speeds up to approximately 40 knots.
Fixed adjustable propellers with more or fewer blades can be specially designed.

The 4-blade Gori folding propeller has the same advantages, as the 3-blade Gori folding propeller with Overdrive. The 4-blade propeller has been developed for big sailing boats with engine over 150 hp.
Available in diameters from 23" and upto more than 31" for shaft installation.

This type of propulsion system is particularly suited
to working vessels (tow-boats, fishing boats, river
bargers and pusher tugs) in the sea and on
rivers.
The nozzles can be of two types: "Fixed" or "Rotating"
(Steering Nozzles).
The advantages gained are the following:
- Reduction of propeller diameter;
- Reduction of propeller shaft and stern tube diameter;
- Reduction in vibrations, expecially in the wider stern as the nozzle regulates the water flow; - Reduction in ship's pitching when in rough waters;
- Increase in the propeller thrust to the tow and to the Bollard-Pull;
- Possible increase of ship speed by approx. 15%;
- Better performance from heavily loaded propellers, especially in shallow water;
- At the same conditions of speed, trawler work, Bollard-Pull, need 30% less power engine;
- The smaller engine cost, the reduction of fuel consuption, the high-performance of trasmission allow to recover the investiment within one or two years.

SOLAS uses a state of the art squeeze casting process to make our aluminum propellers stronger and tougher than traditional die cast products.
As shown below, with 400x magnification of a propeller blade root cross-section, the squeeze cast propeller is almost non-porous, with finer grain size than the die cast propeller.
SOLAS aluminum propellers have 4 layers of paint. Using superior coatings and a high-tech painting process ensures excellent anti-corrosion performance.
SOLAS aluminum propellers are exposed to over 500 hours of testing in a salt water spray tank. This testing simulates more than 6 months of normal salt water use.

For high-output and mid-range Cobra sterndrives, you have the choice of using 3 or 4 blade propellers. Our 4-blade propellers provide enhanced handling, improved holeshot, and smoother operation. Designed for higher-performance applications, these sterndrive and outboard propellers start at a comparatively high pitch of 18" and go up to 24". If you are currently using a 3-blade propeller with at least a 19" pitch, or you need a pitch higher than 21", this is the propeller for you. To see what sizes we offer for your motor, choose your motor from our list!
