Volvo Penta IPS Hybrid brings the control, efficiency and reliability of our proven IPS solution for yachts and marine commercial vessels into a hybrid propulsion system. Offering real performance, efficiency and comfort benefits, this fully integrated, complete helm-to-propeller solution comes to you with one-partner service and support and flexible collaboration and co-engineering possibilities.
Marine hybrid propulsion system advantages
There are four operational modes for Hybrid IPS installations – Pure Electric, Hybrid Electric, Hybrid Fuel and Cross-Over. The system can also serve as a generator both at anchor and during propulsion. For a yacht with an average hotel load consumption of 13kW, the smallest battery pack can supply power for up to 11 hours and charge the batteries in approximately 40 minutes.
Integrated solution
Our fully integrated hybrid system is delivered as a complete package with propulsion, batteries, controls and energy management in one system. It also features a single diagnostic interface and simplified installation. In addition, because Volvo Penta can act as a single point of support and contact, our system eliminates the complexity of dealing with multiple vendors.
Stay in control
Built on over 20 years of IPS heritage, the Volvo Penta IPS Hybrid extends proven performance into hybrid-electric propulsion. The solution builds on our Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) platform, offering operator-selected drive modes with clear energy use, charging and battery monitoring. Precision maneuvering and handling are enhanced through world-leading hybrid efficiency, integrated from helm-to-prop.
