Overview
Straatman Quick Release Mooring Hooks are engineered and manufactured in the Netherlands for ports, terminals, LNG jetties, offshore facilities and mooring buoys worldwide. They allow operators to release mooring lines safely and in a controlled way, even under load. Systems are available with manual, electric or electro-hydraulic release, optional load monitoring, remote release and integration with berth and environmental monitoring systems.

Quick release with load capability
Hooks are designed to release a mooring line while under tension up to the unit's rated capacity. Safe Working Load (SWL) ratings are supplied per hook (examples: 100, 150, 200 metric tonnes); multi-hook assemblies combine individual hook capacities to reach the required total capacity depending on vessel and berth analysis.

Mooring Load Monitoring System (MLMS)
The MLMS uses a dedicated load cell fitted in each hook to measure the force on the mooring line. Load data is displayed to the operator (local and remote) to provide insight into mooring situations during operations and to trigger warnings when loads exceed thresholds.

Safety, testing and compliance
Straatman tests all hooks on calibrated in-house testing machines and supplies standard test certificates with each delivery. Testing can be witnessed by classification authorities where required. Hooks can be supplied with certified electrical and control components for hazardous areas in accordance with project-specific requirements. Designs are made in line with industry guidance including OCIMF Mooring Equipment Guidelines (MEG4) where applicable.
