The Actisense Active Depth/Speed/Temperature module is the best solution for interfacing standard analogue transducers and NMEA 0183 compatible chart plotters, radars, and on-board laptop PC's.
Designed for use with most existing analogue transducers already fitted to a vessel, or new analogue transducers. Our industry proven depth sounder algorithm has the best-in-class seabed tracking, and when in conjunction with a good quality depth transducer, can track the seabed down to 0.3m or 1 foot (proven with Airmar transducers).
100W peak depth power enables a maximum depth range of 200m or 660 feet under optimum conditions (proven with Airmar transducers). 150 KHz & 200 KHz depth transducer frequencies are available to match most existing transducers. For enhanced interference rejection (from other sounders), a 235 KHz capable module is also available.
Log transducer and temperature thermistor interfaces allow additional data to be provided over the NMEA data stream, giving a cable saving. Easy reprogramming of the DST module's software is possible, to include the very latest software enhancements or customisations.
The DST module's data interface is configured for NMEA 0183, but can operate as a fully bi-directional RS485 interface for customised applications, such as an on-board multiple depth sounder network.

The Simrad 120-25 is a single-beam transducer protected by a robust housing. The solid interior enables it to withstand the pressure at a depth of 1000 m.

To meet an increasing demand for a high frequency split beam transducer for towed bodies, Simrad has now developed the ES200-7CD. This is a composite transducer offering high resolution and large bandwidth. The capability to operate within a large frequency band makes it the ideal choice for scientists using frequency sweeps and short pulse lengths to identify species in the biomass.

The Simrad ES70-11 is a split-beam transducer in a streamlined housing. It can be mounted outside the vessel hull or on a towed foil. The transducer has 36 piezoceramic elements arranged in four quadrants. It can also be used as a single-beam transducer by connecting the four quadrants two and two, first in parallel and then in series.

Stingray Echo Sounder
The NASA Stingray Echo Sounders come in a slimline case with an easy to read extra bright LED display on a 4 inch dial. They both have a dual audible alarms for shallow and deep water which can be set to give two ranges either 1-25 metres or 1-100 metres, and are simplicity itself to operate. They come complete with transducer and stirrup mounting bracket and only require connection to the ships 12v power supply.
How They Work
Very simply, they make a noise and measure the echo. Knowing that sound travels at 144 metres a second through water allows us to calculate the depth by measuring the interval between the sound being made and the echo being heard. The NASA Stingray Echo Sounders have a transducer with a high quality Lead Zirconate Titanate Piezodisc crystal which creates ultrasonic 'sound' pulses at a frequency of 150kHz (imperceptible to the human ear). These pulses pass through the water and bounce back off the bottom. The returning echo pulse is then sensed by the transducer crystal. On these rotary flashing LED type sounders, a pulse is generated as the lED flashes at the 12 'o' clock position. The rotor arm is calibrated to run at a speed whereby when it flashes on receiving the returned pulse this flash will be in the correct position on the dial to indicate the correct depth.

The Depth instrument gives an easy to read display of the true depth in metres or feet. The logarithmic scales show shallower sections more clearly.

The Ocean Line Combi is a space-saving 2-in-1 solution – a combined depth gauge and log that will fit in the most compact cockpit. The easy to read analogue display shows depths up to 30 metres on a two-part scale. Operation can be fully automatic with range and gain self adjusting, or the skipper can override either or both. A video output is now also available, enabling either a composite or super video compatible device to act as a repeater from a "black box" master.
GPS Repeater Screens are available for vessels with the master GPS located at a different station.
