OverviewThe paddle skimmer is designed to recover oils of varying viscosities from the water surface, from light fuels to heavy crude. The floating paddle rollers lift and deliver water-free oil, making it suitable for applications that require a clean, reusable product. The unit also removes the thin oil film that produces surface iridescence.
OperationOperation is based on oil adhesion to the specific paddle roller material. A pneumatic motor rotates the roller, creating surface flow and collecting floating substances even in areas away from the skimmer. Oil adheres to the roller, is lifted out of the water and scraped into the onboard reservoir. A pneumatic pump mounted on the skimmer transfers the recovered oil to final storage.
ApplicationsThe paddle skimmer operates on the same principle as roller and brush skimmers but can additionally collect larger solid objects. The onboard pump transfers recovered oil and solids up to a certain size. Larger solid items captured by the paddles are retained inside the skimmer and must be removed manually or by external self-purging systems.
