Brush oil skimmer

Overview
The Zenit Ambiente brush skimmer is designed to recover oils of varying viscosities from the water surface, from light fuels (gas oil, gasoline) to heavy crude. The brush recovers water-free oil, making it suitable for applications where a pure and potentially reusable product is required. It can operate autonomously for extended periods without operator supervision and is effective at removing thin oil films that cause surface iridescence.

Operation
The skimmer operates by adhesion of oil to the brush material. Rotation of the brush creates a surface flow that collects floating substances even at some distance from the unit. The brush is driven by an air motor; oil adheres to the brush and is lifted out of the water. As the oil reaches the scrapers it is collected and conveyed into the reservoir where a pneumatic direct-suction pump mounted on the skimmer transfers the recovered oil to final storage.

Applications
For particularly viscous oils or oils contaminated with sludge, the brush skimmer is an effective alternative to roller skimmers. The bristles combine adhesion with a mechanical action on crusts or thicker products. Although less selective than rollers, the brush performs better in low-temperature environments where rollers may be inefficient.
