Furler / anti-pollution boom AR/85

Short description
The boom reel occupies the maximum dimensions shown on the drawings and has no external protrusions. It includes a base with forklift pockets and eyebolts welded on the uprights for crane lifting. For ground handling, optional special wheels can be fitted. The unit features corner reinforcement profiles, a safety locking device, water-draining backing plates and a tail rope fastener.

Description
The drum is a horizontal-axis type sized to accommodate up to 200 m of AR/70-type barrier and comprises:

• Frame
• Roller coil
• Retaining side walls
• Hydraulic gear motor

FRAME
The base frame is a load-bearing structure in AISI 304/316 steel formed by 200×100 and 100×100 profiles of 5 mm thickness (alternatively marinized aluminium). It can contain 200 m of floating barrier model AR/85 weighing approximately 560 kg. To resist stresses from coil weight and pulling operations, the support structure is reinforced with an additional central profile.

COIL
The winding reel consists of a central shaft (drum Ø 450 mm approx.), a pair of side bulkheads made of AISI 316 stainless steel welded to 8 equally spaced AISI 304 spokes. The peripheral ring of the sidewalls is AISI 316 tubular (Ø 30 mm, 2 mm thickness). The inner surface is convex towards the centre to facilitate barrier wrapping.

GALVANIZING & PAINTING
Surface treatment is full-cycle epoxy-vinyl:

• Hot-dip galvanizing
• Anchoring primer
• Two coats of epoxy paint for marine environment
