Furler / anti-pollution boom AR/70

Short description
The boom reel is designed to occupy the maximum dimensions shown in the drawings without external protrusions. It is supplied with a base frame with forklift pockets and eyebolts welded on the uprights for crane lifting. Optional wheels for ground handling are available. The reel includes corner reinforcing profiles, a safety locking device, water drainage support plates and a tail-rope fastener.

Description
Horizontal-axis winding reel sized to accommodate up to 200 m of AR/70 floating barrier. The assembly consists of:

• Frame
• Winding coil (drum)
• Side bulkheads (retaining walls)
• Hydraulic gear motor

FRAME
The base frame is a load-bearing structure in AISI 304/316 steel with 200×100 and 100×100 profiles, 5 mm thickness (alternative: marinized aluminum). It is sized to contain 200 m of floating barrier AR/70 (approx. 560 kg). An additional central reinforcing profile increases resistance to stresses from coil weight and towing operations.

COIL
The winding coil comprises a central shaft (drum Ø ≈ 450 mm). Two side bulkheads in AISI 316 stainless steel, welded to 8 equally spaced AISI 304 spokes, complete the rotating drum. The peripheral ring of the sidewalls is AISI 316 tubular (Ø 30 mm, thickness 2 mm). The inner surface is convex toward the centre to facilitate barrier wrapping.

GALVANIZING & PAINTING
Surface treatment is full-cycle epoxyvinyl with the following sequence:

• Hot-dip galvanizing
• Anchoring primer
• Two coats of epoxy paint for marine environment
