Description

The RIM 1.5 is an annular, hubless electric thruster engineered for demanding marine environments and integration on robotic and light marine platforms. Its sealed architecture and debris-tolerant design maximize operational availability for ROVs, USVs and AUVs.

Key features
  • RIM-DRIVEN architecture: propeller driven at the magnetic periphery, eliminating rotating seals and oil-filled housings.
  • Hubless annular motor allowing debris, algae and sediment to pass through without entanglement.
  • High static thrust with optimized power-to-consumption ratio and reduced acoustic signature via a torque-prioritized speed profile.
  • QuickChange™ maintenance system for rapid field removal and replacement of the propeller (Level 1 maintenance, no complex tools).
  • Composite-material construction with native encapsulated stator/rotor waterproofing.
  • Manufactured in France to withstand galvanic corrosion and aggressive saline environments.

Applications
  • ROVs: primary thruster for observation and light work-class vehicles requiring stability and current-handling capability.
  • USVs: main propulsion for surface drones (surveillance, bathymetry) focused on endurance and low power draw.
  • AUVs: propulsion optimized for long-duration autonomous missions with quiet operation.
  • Barges & pontoons: propulsion for service platforms and small cargo or aquaculture pontoons needing precise low-speed maneuvering.
  • Defense & security: tactical vectors requiring minimal magnetic and acoustic signatures.

Details / Integration notes
  • Designed as an industrial sealed annular thruster for long-duration missions where reliability is critical.
  • Requires an external electronic speed controller (not included) capable of handling 30 A and Hall position sensors.
  • Base and EPDM anti-vibration plate are provided to facilitate integration on various chassis.
  • Availability: limited edition pre-order (series available January 2026).
