How to choose this product

A propeller is a mechanical device composed of a cylindrical hub with a series of blades around its circumference. Because of their helical form, the blades produce thrust as they turn, propelling the craft forward. It is designed specifically for sailboat auxiliary engines, where the performance/fuel consumption ratio is more important than speed. Folding propellers considerably decrease drag under sail.
Applications
All sailboats equipped with an inboard engine require a propeller adapted to its reduction gearing. Those presented under this heading are all specifically designed for sailboats.
Technologies
Such propellers are generally made of copper, bronze, cupronickel or stainless steel. The hub has a conical hole in its center to fit on the propeller shaft, or by a crenelated hole into which slides the spline of a sail-drive.
There are two, three or four blades whose degree of twist determines the 's pitch. Propellers are characterized by pitch and diameter. Two- or three-blade folding propellers are equipped with a rack. The force of the water flowing beneath the hull under sail causes the blades to fold together, decreasing drag and increasing speed.
How to choose
Specify the motor's reduction gear ratio and type of transmission, whether shaft or sail-drive. Racing sailors will appreciate the increased speed offered by a folding propeller.
