The blade is one of the propeller's fundamental components. The propeller consists of the hub and the blades.
The two sides of a propeller blade are the suction side and the pressure side. Each rotating blade produces forward thrust. The blade's section diminishes from the contact point with the hub to the tip, generally in a linear fashion. The orientation of the blades determines the propeller's pitch.
Blade choice will depend on propeller configuration as a whole. Hub, overall diameter, pitch and its relationship to the diameter, and engine power are all factors to be considered. Suppliers can perform optimization studies.
