Description

Product description
The CROMOX DIN 766 AISI 316L stainless steel anchor chain is manufactured from low‑carbon 316L marine‑grade stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance. Its stainless construction prevents rust staining on vessels, makes wear easier to spot during inspections and offers improved handling in the chain locker and on the windlass.

Key features
  • Smooth operation on the windlass gypsy with no zinc burrs or surface irregularities.
  • Efficient payout when dropping the anchor; reduced risk of kinking.
  • Less piling in the chain locker and better lateral spread for consistent feeding.
  • Facilitates practical remote‑control windlass operation.
  • Higher breaking strength compared with comparable galvanized chains.
  • No requirement for repeated re‑galvanizing; weld areas remain free from rust like the rod section.

Technical specifications
  • Standard: DIN 766
  • Material: AISI 316L (low‑carbon stainless steel) — marine grade with high corrosion resistance
  • Welds treated to remain corrosion‑resistant equivalent to the link body
  • Optional upgrade: 316L Grade 60 CROMOX stainless chain available
  • Improved mechanical performance: higher breaking load vs. galvanized chain
  • Handling advantages: smoother on gypsy, reduced piling, improved spread in locker
  • Maintenance: resists rust staining; eliminates frequent re‑galvanizing cycles

Applications & maintenance
  • Recommended for yachts, commercial vessels and workboats operating in aggressive marine environments.
  • Ideal where appearance, corrosion resistance and reduced maintenance are priorities.
  • Inspect links regularly for wear; replace damaged links to maintain rated strength.
  • Compatible with standard windlasses and remote‑control systems when sized correctly.
