Our rudder ports continue this legacy and are available in a variety of shaft diameters and pilot lengths. Suitable for lower horsepower boats. We offer two series of traditional bronze rudder ports to help find the best possible fit for your specific boat project. Each series is precision machined from cast bronze and features our heavy duty threaded packing nut and lock nut system. MP Series vs RP Series MP Series: Our MP Series (multipurpose) rudder ports feature a rectangular mounting flange. They are available to fit rudder post diameters (rudder shaft diameters) between 1 1/4″ up to 2 1/2″. RP Series: Our RP Series (rudder port) rudder ports feature a 5″ square mounting flange. They are available to fit rudder post diameters (rudder shaft diameters) between 1 1/4″ up to 1 1/2″. The are also available with two different pilot lengths. Our “standard” pilot length is 1 3/4″ and our “long” pilot length is 5″. The longer pilot version of our RP Series rudder port is ideal for older wooden boat repairs with thicker planking than their fiberglass or metal counterparts.
