Old fashioned turnbuckle bodies are manufactured by forging a soft bronze to produce the desired shape. Petersen's unique GT turnbuckle body is machined from naval grade, ultrasonically inspected aluminium bronze. Using this process has allowed a 20% weight reduction without compromising strength. Each body is individually hand polished and chrome plated to give an excellent finish. Our closed ‘rigging screw’ body is made from stainless steel grade 316L. Sizes up to 1/2” are manufactured from seamless (no welds) pressure-tube. Sizes 5/8” and above have aluminium bronze thread inserts to prevent galling.
