Since the base is constantly in contact with the ground, galvanizing prevents corrosion better than paint. - The entire top is hot dip galvanized, not just bare steel. It is dipped in three separate pieces for maximum coverage. The only metal not galvanized is the 316L stainless-steel fasteners. - The wingnut collar has been increased from 1″ to 1.5″ in length, increasing the mating surface contact area between the collar and the square acme threaded rod, which increases load capacity.
