How to choose this product
The reduction gearbox reduces the revolutions per minute (rpm) of an engine. This drives the propeller shaft at an appropriate speed. It must be of substantial size to match that of a marine engine.
These devices are used with engines turning at high revolutions per minute such as gas turbines and certain diesels and electric motors.
The gearbox links the engine to the propeller shaft. It contains a series of gears and toothed wheels of different sizes, which reduce engine rpm to the range of appropriate working speeds for the shaft.
How to choose
Choice of gearbox will depend on the characteristics of the engine to which it will be mounted. These include the engine's power and rpm, the torque and speed to be transmitted by the gearbox and the number of its input and output shafts.
