How to choose this product
A hydraulic windlass is a horizontal rotating drum used to handle lines and chain.
These devices are used to take up or pay out lines, cables and chains, especially during mooring or when dropping or weighing anchor.
In general, windlasses have a drum, or warping head and a brake wheel for handling line and cable. Those for chain have a toothed wildcat, also called a gypsy or chainwheel. The chain's links fit into the wheel's recesses. A windlass can be powered by the ship's central hydraulic system or have its own.
How to choose
Choice will depend on the diameter of the line, cable or chain to be handled, as well as the mechanism's load capacity.
