CST supplies a complete range of tubing for the 12' skiff including masts for all 3 rig options, spreaders, spinnaker poles & booms. Emmet Lazich placed first at the 2007 Interdominion championships using CST spars.
No1 Rig - CST-470-1 mast carries a straight section to the hounds and the short tip joins into the base section. This rig offers a fairly stiff configuration and has been used by many teams over the past few years. The CST-470-2 mast is a more progressive rig developed from the International 14, it joins at the lower spreader. This mast was used by Emmet Lazich to win the 2007 Interdominion championship.
No2 Rig - The CST-471 mast is a similar style to the CST-470-1 in that it joins at the hounds giving a relatively stiff rig with a flexible tip. This mast is currently the only option for No2 rig and has been used successfully for several years by top Australian teams.
No3 Rig - The CST-472-1 joins at the hounds with a short flexible tip. The CST-472-2 is a more progressive rig which joins at the bottom spreader. This mast was also used by Emmet Lazich.

CST Composites has been developing 18ft Skiff spars in close relationship with Sydney's leading 18ft Skiff sailors for over 10 years.
This development has seen early success with CST masts winning the JJ Giltnan World Titles in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
A recent win at NSW Championship by Rag and Famish Hotel as well as close 2nd place finish for Active Air in 2009 J.J. Giltinan Series proves that CST spars still remain the premier 18ft skiff spar manufacturer.
Flexural rigidity is a technical term used to characterise the stiffness of a section of beam or spar. The higher the flexural rigidity, the less a spar will deflect when a bending moment of load is applied. Through various winding techniques, CST can vary the flexural rigidity profile of a tip to give the desired bend characteristics.
We apply considerable time and effort into calculating the stiffness, deflections, stresses and weights prior to production of sections. Accurate stiffness models and resulting high production reproducibility leads to unsurpassed mast properties. Much of the guess work is removed and we think this is the secret of our success.

CST supplies a complete range of carbon tubing for masts, spreaders and wings for the B14 class. Our 50 series masts are made using intermediate modulus carbon fibre and have been developed with the leading class sailors to offer the optimum bend characteristics and light weight.
The 50 series mast is also the current world champion spar can be purchased as either a rigged section, or a bare tube set.
Working closely with the B14 association, CST has also developed new carbon fibre wings replacing the existing aluminium variety. These are available as cut to length tubes ready for assembly or as a complete wing kit including moulded carbon joints and acetal fittings.
