Seafarers the world over have relied on SG Brown gyrocompasses for almost 100 years. The Meridian Subsea uses a Dynamically Tuned Gyro (DTG) element, which provides exceptional performance and accuracy and removes the need for routine maintenance, significantly reducing cost of ownership.
The high accuracy heading output can be maintained for turn rates in excess of 200° per second making the system ideal for operation in even the most hostile subsea environments.
The design of the Meridian Subsea is simple yet highly robust and the fast spin-up time of less then 45 minutes allows for vastly increased efficiencies over earlier mechanical gyro technologies.
The Meridian Subsea may be upgraded to the Subsea RP with addition of a Roll Pitch Module. This enables output of roll and pitch data with up to 0.1° accuracy making the unit useful in a wider variety of subsea control, installation or monitoring applications.
Also optional in either the Subsea or Subsea RP models is the addition of an integral battery back-up module. This can cover short-term power supply loss and power supply switch over.
- Maintenance-free DTG element
- Dynamic heading accuracy of ±0.2°
- <45 minutes settling time
- Start-up power requirement of 1.8A
- Low cost of ownership
- MTBF of 30,000 hours
- Depth rated to 3000m
- Very high turn rate of 200° per second
- Configuration via PC interface S/W
- Optional integral Roll & Pitch module with battery back-up

The Meridian Surveyor boasts a wide range of interfaces to enable use on any
marine vessel. The unit utilises a DTG gyro element which provides
exceptional performance with an accuracy unmatched by even the latest
fibre optic designs. Unlike conventional spinning mass gyrocompasses, the
Meridian Surveyor uses a dry tuned element (DTG) that removes the need
for routine maintenance thereby significantly reducing cost of ownership.
Remarkably stable heading can be maintained for turn rates in excess
of 200° per second making the system ideal for use on fast survey
craft and in river/harbour environments.
The Meridian Surveyor gyrocompass is backed by the largest
global support network of any manufacturer, TSS has complete repair, test and calibration facilities in the UK and USA, aided by factory-trained service engineers on every continent.

The Meridian gyrocompass is a product suitable for the ever-changing needs of a modern integrated navigation bridge system. This includes highly accurate performance with low cost of ownership and system flexibility. Due to the Meridian’s small size and fast settle time of less than 45 minutes, there are no limits to the type of vessel for which it is suitable.
The Meridian gyrocompass can be installed as a stand-alone unit or, together with any of the Meridian range of repeaters and ancillaries, it becomes a single or dual gyro system. The Meridian can also be used to replace many existing gyrocompasses as a retro fit unit.
For simple installation the Meridian offers a large array of digital and analogue outputs plus easy to use set-up and self-test modes that are activated via the control unit. The versatility and flexibility of the Meridian can be clearly demonstrated with the remote control unit option. This gives freedom to install the main unit in the most convenient location whilst installing the remote control unit where it can be seen and regularly used.
Features & Benefits:
- IMO, HSC and Wheelmark certified
- Fast initial settle time
- Small, lightweight and versatile
- Dynamic heading accuracy of 0.6°
- Static heading accuracy of 0.1°
- Multiple analogue and digital outputs
- Low cost of ownership
- MTBF >30,000 hours
- High turn rate of 200° per second

The heading of Standard 21 satellite compass is oriented to geographical north and not affected by the earth's magnetic field, latitude and ship's speed. Its strengths - heading availability and accuracy in highly dynamic situations - hold true even in case of GPS signal loss, thanks to the electronics with solid state rate sensors. The ruggedized design ensures a long life of the entire system. It is a perfect solution for professional workboats, fishery vessels or pilot boats. Additionally, it can serve as a cost effective back-up sensor for the Standard 22 gyro compass.

Maretron’s SSC200 is a solid state, rate gyro electronic compass that provides better than 1° heading accuracy through ±45° of roll and pitch angle, and better than 1° roll and pitch accuracy in static conditions. Each SSC200 is factory calibrated for maximum accuracy. It delivers precise, reliable heading information ten times per second, plus vessel attitude including pitch and roll readings once per second. A micromachined rate gyro is used by advanced stabilization algorithms to provide accurate, stable readings during dynamically changing conditions such as hard turns or rough seas, making it an ideal heading sensor for autopilot applications.
Maretron's SSC200 is certified to the NMEA 2000® network standard and compatible with the NMEA 0183 digital interface standard. It connects directly with any NMEA 2000® network and/or NMEA 0183 listeners to share information with navigational software, chart plotters, autopilots, and dedicated instrument displays – including Maretron's DSM200 graphical display.
The SSC200 can be automatically calibrated for deviation. Its dynamic accuracy is improved with advanced digital filtering of the 3-axis magnetometer, 2-axis accelerometer and rate gyro.

Whether you are offshore fishing or just enjoying family time on the water, feel confident and comfortable that the H2183 is your reliable source for heading information. The solid-state three-axis compass, combined with Airmar’s additional advanced sensors and software provide unparalleled performance. What sets the H2183 apart from the competition is its ability to maintain 2° of heading accuracy under dynamic motion conditions, such as steep heeling, hard turns, and rough seas. Heading integrated with the three-axis rate gyro and three-axis accelerometer data allows the H2183 to maintain 2° of accuracy even if the vessel is pitching and rolling up to 30°. This level of accuracy is perfect for interfacing with autopilots, chart plotters, and radar systems. The H2183’s innovative circular design easily mounts and aligns on ANY angled bulkhead. Designed for simultaneous use with NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000® devices, the waterproof, easy-to-install sensor comes with a single cable which can be wired into both NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 networks on the vessel.
