Cassens & Plath GmbH

Who we are

Our company was founded in Bremen in 1902 by Captain Tanne Janssen Cassens. In 1972 we moved to Bremerhaven where more than 20 employees continue Janssen’s legacy today.

The maritime city of Bremerhaven remains the starting point and headquarters of our globally active company, which has been contributing to safety on board for over a hundred years by manufacturing high-quality navigation instruments.

Here, tradition and progress are combined in a portfolio that ranges from classic sextant construction to the latest computer technology in professional electronic compasses.

Highest precision and unsurpassed quality are the trademarks of our sextants and compasses. Every Cassens & Plath employee feels committed to these values. Our customers from all over the world, including renowned shipyards and shipping companies as well as enthusiastic sports sailors, agree.

Since 2014, Cassens & Plath is owned by the company Zöllner with CEO Dr. Philip Murmann.
