Product descriptionNew generation of beam designed as a crossbeam for modern catamarans. The Z1371 crossbeam has been CAD-designed to be assembled without welding and to be fully machined using 5-axis CNC technology. New crossbeam profiles and components have been developed to create a stronger and lighter beam while minimizing chafe points and reducing electrolytic corrosion between aluminium and stainless steel. All crossbeams are supplied with traceability labels.
Key features- Dimensions: 270 mm x 155 mm
- Inertia (longitudinal): 2427 cm4
- Inertia (lateral): 1146 cm4
- Weight: 13.95 kg/m
- Designed for assembly without welding
- Fully machined using 5-axis CNC technology
- New profiles and components to reduce chafe points
- Anti-slip grooves integrated on the upper surface
- Crossbeam dolphin striker made from thick round tubing to limit sail chafing
- Traceability labels supplied with each crossbeam
Materials and corrosion control- Stainless steel parts: AISI 316 grade stainless steel
- Beam profiles and chainplate extrusions: 6005A T6 alloy (stated as three times stronger than cast aluminium)
- Only the forestay attachment, beam tie-rod, trampoline sliders, and beam-to-chainplate connecting pins are made of stainless steel to limit galvanic/electrolytic corrosion
Design intent and suitability- Specifically suited to modern catamarans
- Tie-rod end fittings and chainplates are integrated into the beam to minimize chafe points
- Objective: stronger, lighter beam with minimized chafe and reduced aluminium/stainless steel corrosion
