Description

Product overview
The ULTRA Swivel is a machined, one-piece anchor swivel designed in Turkey for direct connection to chain without an additional shackle. Made from solid 316Ti stainless steel and hand polished, it provides 360° rotation and ±30° articulation to assist anchor alignment on the bow roller. No separate safety strap or locking pin is required when installed correctly.

Key features
  • Automatically rights an upside-down anchor and helps it seat correctly on the bow roller.
  • Breaking load exceeds typical chain breaking loads, preventing the swivel from being the weak link with high-holding anchors.
  • Hex-head pin with grub (set) screw secures the pin head in a hexagonal seat and resists loosening.
  • Generous joint clearance reduces the risk of binding from dirt or deposits.
  • Machined from solid material (not cast) to avoid brittleness.
  • Concealed low-friction TEFLON O-ring maintains rotation with minimal maintenance.
  • Comes with a 5-year warranty; breaking load is stamped on the product back.

Technical design and operation
The ULTRA Swivel rotates continuously through 360° and articulates up to 30° each side. A correcting claw and turning bridge work together to help an inverted anchor turn and sit correctly before the bow roller. The hex-head pin plus set screw design eliminates the need for additional safety straps or locking pins. Each swivel's breaking load is marked on the rear.

Features highlighted on product image
  • Turning Bridge — amplifies the correcting claw so an upside-down anchor can rotate and seat before the bow roller.
  • Rounded Edges — reduce risk of damaging contact surfaces.
  • Hex-Head Pin + Set Screw — prevents unintended bolt loosening.
  • One-Piece Body — machined from solid 316Ti stainless steel for maximum strength.
  • Teflon O-Ring — low-friction element that prevents metal-on-metal sticking under load.
  • Self-Cleaning Semi-Spherical Joint — allows full movement and helps clear debris.
  • Correcting Claw — assists an inverted anchor to orient correctly over the roller.
  • One-Piece Head — semi-spherical section integrated into the machined head for strength.
  • Chain Opening — sized to allow direct connection of the selected chain.

Additional notes
With its design advantages and 5-year warranty, the ULTRA Swivel is among advanced swivels worldwide and was the only Turkish design nominated at DAME 2011. Each unit is stamped with its breaking load.

Maintenance
  • Carry out a visual inspection at least once a year to detect wear or damage.
  • If mineral deposits form on the spherical joint, apply a water-resistant lithium-based grease to improve movement.
  • Confirm set screws remain secure; they are engineered not to loosen under normal conditions.
  • Indentation on the neck caused by the correcting claw is normal; excessive wear (neck diameter smaller than the section where neck meets the ball) requires replacement.
  • Excessive wear can result from undersized swivels for a given anchor, pairing a small swivel with a very high-strength chain, too-narrow bow rollers restricting lateral movement, special grooves on some bow rollers that impede rotation, or using a high-speed windlass that does not allow time for the anchor to correct.
  • When recovering chain with a high-speed windlass, briefly stop (≈1 second) as the swivel passes over the roller to permit anchor correction.

Securing hook
When the anchor is seated on the bow roller, use a securing hook attached to the free space on the swivel body next to the anchor shank tip and lead it to a nearby cleat to prevent the anchor dropping back into the water.

Connection to anchors with an oval hole
Older anchors with oval shank holes were intended for U/D shackles. Although the ULTRA Swivel's safety and technical characteristics are superior, connecting to a non-ULTRA anchor with an oval hole may rarely allow jamming. To avoid this, limit unnecessary rearward clearance of the oval hole with a small modification.
