Product description
If you have to anchor on a short scope, you can lower the ULTRA Anchor Ring onto the chain to improve anchoring security. When boats are anchored close together, the ring reduces the swinging radius. In strong gusts the weighted chain rises more gradually, creating a shock-absorbing effect that reduces loads on the anchor and vessel and improves comfort. If wind strength increases beyond the ring's effectiveness, switch to a longer scope. Rule of thumb: multiply the water depth by the Beaufort number to estimate a safe long scope.

Anchor recovery
Avoid anchoring on rocky ground when possible. If unavoidable, rig a recovery line and buoy on the anchor before dropping it. If the anchor is stuck and diving is not an option, the ULTRA Anchor Ring can sometimes assist recovery by applying downward force and enabling controlled pull attempts.

Rope detail
Use a rope thicker than the minimum needed to support the ring so a stuck anchor can be pulled free and to avoid cutting hands when handling the ring. Recommended diameters: at least 8 mm for UAR27, 10 mm for UAR45, and 12 mm for UAR80. The rope length should be slightly shorter than the water depth to prevent the ring from dragging on the bottom and wrapping around the chain. A UL-D 40/130 bow reel is the most practical option; alternatively bring a stern reel forward or use a separate rope that meets the diameter and length recommendations.
