The R250 is a manual headsail furler from the PROFURL Racing range designed for boats from 6 to 9 m. It supports a maximum forestay diameter of 6 mm (#10 rod), accepts genoa / staysail / solent jib, features colorless black oval extrusions and is delivered with a 10-year warranty.

Technical description
PROFURL furling systems deliver high reliability and longevity. The mechanisms use special sealed bearings allowing furling under any conditions and offer full waterproofing to protect against corrosion and contamination.

High performance systems

• Extrusions are manufactured in a special 6106 alloy to be lighter and stronger.
• Ball bearings optimized for weight/resistance ratio.
• Wichard opening pre-feeder is delivered as standard on Racing models to hoist the sail faster (pre-feeder is optional on some configurations).

Reliable and maintenance free

• Ball bearings made of high strength 100 C6 carbon steel, sealed in a grease bath to increase working load and prevent corrosion.
• Watertightness achieved by two double lip seals preventing ingress of salt, sand, dust and water.
• Non-deformable plastic drums designed to withstand impacts (anchor bump, collision) and resistant to UV.

Ease of use
PROFURL manual furling systems are designed to simplify operations:

• Standard feeder enables sail hoisting by a single crew member.
• Optional opening pre-feeder (manufactured by Wichard) smoothly guides the sail’s luff tape into the extrusion and can be reattached to the luff tape when re-hoisting the sail without removing the headsail from the extrusion.

Safety of use

• Double cage arms (exclusive to PROFURL) prevent the furling line from jumping off the drum and allow the line to re-align onto the drum by pulling on the line.
• Stainless steel locking devices dedicated to boats with closed-to-deck fittings.

Materials and reliability
PROFURL selects components with rigorous testing; parts are bench-tested to assess resistance:

• Ball bearings: high strength 100 C6 carbon steel.
• Drums: high impact plastic.
• Extrusions: special 6106 alloy with excellent weight/resistance ratio.
• Feeder and opening pre-feeder: stainless steel 316L.
