OverviewSilent Sailing Svenner is a DNV Type Approved marine battery platform by EPTechnologies based on solid-state cell technology, designed for safe, long-life and scalable marine energy systems such as hybrid propulsion, hotel loads and onboard energy storage.
Key safety and platform features- Withstands overcharge, extreme heat and punctures without thermal runaway.
- Hardware override switch and module-level protection with a dedicated fuse per module.
- Dual-core lockstep CPU BMS for redundancy and continuous monitoring; includes HVIL interlock and module-level internal water-leak detection.
- DNV Design Option 1: no propagation and no module gas ducting required; any fire is contained within the module.
- Remote data monitoring for system visibility to reduce downtime and optimise performance.
- Rack or self-stackable enclosure design for flexible installation and straightforward expansion.
- Scalable architecture: 51.2 V modular platform, up to 15 modules per string, expandable via parallel strings and multiple pack controllers.
- Estimated lifecycle cost advantage driven by long cycle life and material efficiency.
Performance and lifetime notesLike all batteries, EPTechnologies batteries age through cycling and calendar ageing. Calendar ageing is approximately 1% per year when stored below 30 °C at 50–60% SOC. Cyclical ageing depends on depth of discharge and charge/discharge regimes; follow recommended operational guidance to maximise service life.
Recommended operational guidance- Do not discharge below 5% SOC; maintain above 10% SOC where possible.
- Do not charge above 95% SOC for normal operation.
- Recommended average ambient temperature 25 °C; absolute maximum 50 °C.
- Normal maximum continuous discharge: typically up to 1C. Normal maximum charge up to 0.5C for extended cycle life (0.5C charge ~8,000 cycles with ~75% remaining capacity).
