Electronic Visual Distress Signal Device (eVDS), USCG Approved New Electronic Visual Distress Signal Fulfils USCG Night, Day Distress Signal Requirements. Daniamant introduces the new ODEO SOS to increase its range of electronic visual distress signals (eVDS). The ODEO SOS is certified to meet US Coast Guard requirements which means it can be used (with provided distress flag) instead of pyrotechnic flares in some countries (USA, Tasmania, Australia & Finland). The ODEO SOS is a high intensity strobe light providing a high intensity internationally recognised SOS morse signal. The ODEO SOS lasts up to 9 hours further increasing chances of rescue and survival. Meeting the USCG requirements of 46 CFR 161.013 the ODEO SOS is approved as night time visual distress signal. With the orange distress flag provided, that meets the requirements of 46 CFR 160.072 the day time visual distress signal requirements are also met (for carriage and approval of day and night distress signals please refer to 33 CFR part 175).
