Product overviewRCE+ electronic battery isolators enable simultaneous charging of 2 or 3 batteries from a single DC source while keeping each battery electrically isolated. Discharging one battery (for example the house/service battery) will not discharge the starter battery. The MOSFET design provides a negligible voltage drop compared with conventional diode isolators (diode models typically generate ~0.7 V DC drop).
Applications and compatibilityThe DC input may be an engine alternator, battery charger, wind turbine, solar panel, hydrogenerator or other onboard/industrial DC source. RCE+ units work with electronic alternators thanks to a dedicated IG (Ignition/priming) terminal that powers the + output during engine start. They support 12 VDC and 24 VDC systems and are compatible with lead-acid and LiFePO4 battery chemistries commonly used in marine and industrial installations. Sizing recommendationSelect the isolator rating according to the maximum current available from the DC source; for example, pair a 120 A alternator with a 180 A isolator to allow for cases where a deeply discharged or shorted battery may draw the full input current.
