Taking a look back at the company, Neil Fernando & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd, a company approved by the Board of Investment of the Government of Sri Lanka) was founded by Neil Fernando in 1969. By having the power and capacity to innovate, the company has become South Asia’s largest fiberglass boat manufacturing company. At present the company has a completed and delivered approximately 40,000 boats.

Neil Fernando and Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. Builder of Neil Marine brand of boats supplies to an international market and caters to countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Holland, Norway, Maldives, Seychelles, Africa, Australia and the Gulf region.

The company works closely with Menken Maritiem BV and Ocean Wide Safety of Holland and is responsible for manufacturing all of their boats. Additionally as and when required both parties transfer valuable technology to the company and this is carried out through training programs and site visits. World renowned architects such as David Freeman of the United Kingdom and De Jager & Simhony of Holland have been called upon to design most of the boats. An average of 5-6 boats is shipped to foreign countries on a monthly basis.

Moreover Neil Fernando and Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. has been granted the prestigious “Lloyds Approved Status” and further has the approval to construct vessels under other International classification bodies such as DNV (Det Norske Veritas) and IRS (Indian Register of Shipping). The company possesses the unique ability of having the expertise and resources to perform all tasks of boat building under one roof.
