Your suggestions for improvement:

A stanchion base is a fitting holding and supporting the bottom end of a deck stanchion.
ApplicationsThese devices hold the stanchion upright, sometimes at a slight angle, depending on its intended configuration. Stanchions along the vessel's sides are normally perpendicular to the deck, while those at the bow incline slightly.
TechnologiesThe fitting consists of a cylindrical sleeve which holds the stanchion and an attached base piece in the form of a flat flange with bolt holes for fastening to the deck.
How to chooseThe base will be chosen according to the size and characteristics of the stanchion.
