A rope cutter is a circular severing device installed on a vessel's propeller shaft.
Applications
When a propeller comes into contact with lines or cables, the blades wrap them around the propeller shaft. This may prevent the shaft from turning, make it impossible to maneuver the boat. Rope cutters sever lines and cables that have fouled the shaft.
Technologies
These devices are mounted on the shaft close to the propeller. As lines wrap around the shaft, they are severed by the cutter's teeth.
