How to choose this product
Fabrics are used in two main areas: in the manufacture of composite materials and for accessories such as trim and covers of various sorts.
Fiberglass and carbon fiber serve as matrices in composite elements for manufacturing hulls and rigging. Textiles are used for trim, furniture and boat covers, and awnings.
The characteristics of a given fabric depend on its constituent fiber, be it fiberglass, Kevlar®, cotton, carbon or another natural or synthetic material. They are also a function of weaving method, which can be unidirectional or multidirectional.
Fabrics used in composite materials are semi-finished products. The added resins determine the properties of the finished component. Fabrics used for trim, awnings and covers are finished products ready to be cut and assembled.
