How to choose this product
A smoke signal for boats is a floating or hand-held safety device which emits dense smoke when activated. This distress signal facilitates daytime search-and-rescue efforts.
National regulations often require these devices on board specified categories of vessel. Colored flares for nighttime use may also be obligatory. They represent additional safety aboard any vessel with room to stow them.
Such devices are often encased in waterproof, corrosion-resistant tubes, either floating or hand-held. They are sometimes complemented by other safety gear, such as distress flares or lifebuoy lights. Since useful life is limited, the expiration date should be checked carefully before going to sea.
How to choose
Choice of this and other safety equipment will depend on applicable regulations concerning obligatory gear in each country.
