Resin coated plywood is produced by spreading a certain amount of glue, which, through an irreversible polymerization, confers great protection to the final product as well as higher durability against external exposure and biological degradation. Moreover, this effect is improved by painting the edges with special resin.

Resin coating of plywood is an alternative to film-facing by a melamine or phenol impregnated paper, specially when the panel's size is out of standard. Resin coated plywood id available with mat or transparent surfaces, presenting one side smooth and one antislipping as finishing, or both sides smooth. Other finishing can also be made upon request (for instance, resin coating on one side only or overlaying with film).
