The appropriate signaling equipment on your boat will make other people notice you in case of danger while at sea. Signaling devices include hand signals, smoke signals, parachute signals, as well as signal horns. Having this equipment on your boat, while underway, is important and obligatory according to the Port Authorities. Furthermore you should not forget that the chances of others spotting you on your boat or at sea, in case of danger, are also increased. In case the engine fails to operate, or your boat is sinking and you are in a Liferaft, the signaling devices can help you attract the attention of the Port Authorities or other boats passing by.
