| With this system you can solve once and for all the problems when launching or landing. With an easy flick of the wrist the kick-up mechanism will automatically lock the rudderblade at the top or bottom position. The blade will automatically kick-up when it hits an under water obstacle. The rudderbox is made of non-corrosive composite materials. The pintles of the rudderbox can be adjusted to be adapted to any Optimist. Kick up rudder system is available with a varnished wooden blade or a laminated polyester blade including tiller, but without tiller extension. |
|
We manufacture many kinds of daggerbags: for blades, for centerboards, combo-bags etc.
We particularly have 2 very nice models, for Laser & for Optimist.
All are manufactured in a nice and strong ripstop 600D polyester PVC backed, padded with non-hydro foam.
We can study your own model. |

RUDDER ASSEMBLIES WITH BLADE
Rudder components can be assembled at our factory with a custom designed CNC machine rudder blade. The blade generally consists of a ribbed, foam core substrate covered with precisely engineered layers of carbon and glass epoxy. The finished blade is primed and ready to paint.
We provide and install bearing races, bearings, shaft seals, tiller plugs and a bearing housing tube ready for installation into the hull and glassing in-place.
We can also incorporate additional features such as a kelp-cutter. |
|
As every rudder stock is different, we always produce them to the specific customer requirements. In general the designer of the yacht specifies the material and dimensions. We can be of assistance if a calculation for a different material is required or if the design has to be modified for a more economic production. In a lot of cases designers draw a rudder shaft with a maximum diameter rounded off to a full figure (i.e. Ø 70, Ø 80, Ø 90,etc mm). It could be that the calculated diameter is 2 mm less. This is a very costly round off that is completely unnecessary: To achieve a high tolerance surface of Ø 90 mm we would need to use a 100 mm solid bar profile. If the diameter of the rudder stock would be 88 mm, we could use a 90 mm solid bar profile. As the price of bar material goes up exponentially with the diameter, one can save a lot of money by acquiring the exact calculated diameter from the designer.

RUDDER POSTS
Rudder posts can be ordered individually or with blade and bearing assembly.
Each rudder post consists of a hand-wound, custom designed shaft of uni-directional carbon tape thermally step-cured over aluminum mandrels.
Composite bearing journals are bonded to the shaft and turned to the desired diameters. Shafts can be either round or rhomboid shaped for flatter profile. All shafts are engineered to customer requirements and ABS standards where applicable. |

| The 41000 series Jefa rudder bearings are the first type of roller bearings that were produced by Jefa marine. In the past 20 years more than 10.000 of these bearings have been produced. This bearing is typically suitable for GRP or wood core cruising yachts where a light revolving and backlash free rudder system is required that will not be stretched to the limits as on racing yachts. |

SCHOTTEL Rudderpropellers (SRP) are combined propulsion and steering systems rated at up to 6000 kW, which convert the engine power into optimum thrust. As the underwater components can be steered through 360 degrees, the full propulsive power can also be used for manoeuvring and dynamic positioning of the ship.
Maximum manoeuvrability, optimum efficiency, economical operation, space-saving installation and simple maintenance - these are just a few of the outstanding features of this robust and reliable propulsion concept, which has proved its worth under tropical and arctic conditions in vessels of all kinds all over the globe. |

The Series 300 Rudder Angle Indicator provides an accurate and continuously updated indication of your rudder position. In a stand-alone system up to five indicators can operate at the same time in conjunction
with the standard RFU 400 follow-up, No master indicator is required. Installation is easy and requires only a shielded 2 conductor wire, 24 AWG for cable runs up to 65' (20 meters). |
|
| The Rudder Angle Indicator is a flush mounted instrument providing a clear indication of the vessel's rudder position. This information is vital when docking or manoeuvring in close quarters with other vessels. |
