Lofrans’ was founded in1966 in Monza. Since the beginning, it has been dedicated to designing and manufacturing high-quality windlasses and anchor management solutions that combine top performance, absolute safety and reliability.

For decades, “The Original Windlass” manufacturer offers stylish and innovative options with cutting-edge technology, while serving mega yachts’ market with customised solutions upon request. Well-reputed boat builders from all over the world have been trusting Lofrans’ windlasses for their new builds.

Being one of the most weather-beaten and mechanically challenged equipment on the deck, a windlass could not stand anything else than premium raw materials. Lofrans’ utilises materials, able to resist corrosive effects that are common in the sea environment, such as AISI 316L stainless steel.

Marine grade metals and electric motors designed to deliver high torque in all conditions, are used in order to offer the best possible efficiency. With the latest CATIA CAD software, our engineers are constantly developing ideas and innovative solutions with regards to product evolution. The integration of these designs to our CAM system ensures that the switch from a conceptual idea to the actual produced component is achieved in a flawless manner.

Most of our components are produced by hot pressing, a technology which guarantees minimal porosity in the metal and superior mechanical features. The most exposed components are then chemically treated in order to slow down and minimise the process of marine corrosion.

During the production process in our factory, we carry out several dimensional tests on components and final products by use of our 3D coordinate measuring machine, as well as marine corrosion tests in a special marine environment chamber, which simulates the harshest of marine environments.

Our products meet the requirements of the most important classification societies such as RINA, BV, DNV and several others. Additionally, we have been paying a lot of attention to the verticalisation of our production in order to make sure that we will keep our quality to the highest level.

Major investments have also been made to support our back office, such as the set-up of SAP & ERP software, the installation of a WMS (Warehouse Management System) integrated with hand held scanner order picking, additional Product Quality Assurance systems and distributor order automation via an in-house B2B ordering tool.

Online spare parts ordering with very simple steps has been also set. We have also established a ticketing system that brings together our customers & our technical department, facilitating communication in a prompt and direct way. An integral part of Lofrans’ is the worldwide network of official distributors in key markets of the industry, that guarantee the sales and service of the “original windlass”.
