NetSim is an electronic navigation simulator that enables trainees to complete blind pilotage training exercises using a commercial-off-the-shelf computer.
With NetSim trainees are able to develop voyage planning, radar watchkeeping and collision avoidance experience using an integrated RADAR, GPS, ECS and helm interface.
To further enhance NetSim’s training benefits VMT’s maritime subject matter experts have developed a library of tutorial videos, trainee briefings and simulation exercises that are designed to introduce electronic navigation concepts.
NetSim’s unstablized RADAR functionality includes variable range markers, electronic bearing lines, gain control, sea clutter and rain filters.
NetSim’s north-up Electronic Charting System (ECS) functionality includes GPS integration and waypoints and route setting.
NetSim’s GPS functionality includes road, bearing and time-to-go displays as well as HDOP, Datum, GPS/DGPS position accuracy.
NetSim compass functionality includes magnetic and gyro variants with the magnetic compass reflecting chart specific magnetic variation.
