Description
The SPS55F8 features a capacitive touchpad mounted in a stainless steel carrier plate and fitted with two stainless steel switches. The solid-state touchpad and switches are rated IP68; a supplied silicone sponge panel seal provides IP68 waterproofing for the complete unit when correctly mounted into the customer's panel. The touchpad uses 'Field Distortion Technology' to detect finger presence; it is not pressure-sensitive and responds to a light touch while tracking the fingertip precisely. Due to the capacitive principle, operation with thick gloves may be impaired. Designed for harsh industrial environments, the unit operates at any mounting angle and requires no regular cleaning or maintenance. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications such as public access kiosks, information terminals, navigation control and processing-industry installations.

Connectivity
The units are supplied with a 1.6 m shielded straight cable terminating in a USB Type A plug; a PS/2 adapter is included. No special drivers are required—use the standard drivers of the operating system.
