What it is and what it is for
Balsapan is a low density composite panel with skins made of okoumè marine plywood and core of end-grain Balsa wood, the lightest wood in nature with good acoustic and thermal insulation properties.
Balsapan lightweight sandwich panels have been designed to build partition and self-bearing bulkheads, floorings, under-decks, flying bridges, superstructures, furniture and ceilings. They are used on boats but also on planes, trains (for railways and undergrounds), buses, hydrofoils and fast ferries.
How it is made
Balsapans configuration:
skins made of Okoumè marine plywood: this wood ensures stable physical and mechanical performance over time and it is easy to work (cutting, plating, varnishing).
core made of end-grain Balsa wood, 120 kg/m³ density, compressive strength of about 115 kg/cm².
Balsa main features:
lightness
compressive strength
dimensional stability
good insulating properties
Balsapan panels can be also produced thicker than 50 mm and with Isophon sound-proof skins and already equipped with approved pipes for cables.
Gluing
Gluing meets the EN314-1:2004 Class 3 standards and is classified to zero issue of formaldehyde (Test Report No.188766/1 according to EN717-2:1994 standards).
