The MTM470 is the world's first mechanical shaft seal system with electronic operation control. Based on the mechanics of the MTM400, it combines the already known mechanical innovations with the first system managed by software, which allows you to check the operating status of the mechanical seal in real time on the control monitors or directly in the engine room. The sensors inserted in the MTM470 control, record and analyze respectively: radial and axial vibrations, temperature of the cooling fluid, pressure of the cooling fluid, temperature of the sliding faces, speed in revolutions per minute and wear, i.e. the degree of deterioration of the faces of slide. The software records all these values and transmits them in various languages (CAN BUS, CAN OPEN, TCP / IP) to the command monitors where the operator can view them with different degrees of instruction: green field, in which the conditions are inside the limits established by Microtem, yellow field in which the detected values enter the alert threshold and red field, when the detected values generate an operating alarm indicating that the operating status must be checked immediately in order not to incur any faults. All these data in addition to transmission and display are processed by a latest generation processor in which an algorithm works that transmits the residual hours of motion of the mechanical seal considering the current conditions. The operator can intervene on the tightness monitoring status by setting the display of the "life time" of the MTM470 according to the last hour of operation, the last 12 hours of operation, the last day of operation or the last 7 days of operation.
