MD9901-EX Intrinsically Safe Dual Function Smoke and Heat detector MD9901-EX is an intrinsically safe addressable multi-criteria detector ables to set off the alarm in case of smoke presence or high temperature. It can be used as combined (smoke and heat alarm), only heat or only smoke mode. It transmits to the central unit, by a custom protocol, the values of the smoke quantity and the temperature. It is designed for the use in areas with potentially explosive atmosphere and certified according to the ATEX 2014/34/UE directive. Self diagnostic function generates fault condition in case of sensor failure or degradation. The detector con be supplied with different baseplate according to the installation requirements. The detector address is programmed by the central unit or by software tools. MD9901-Ex is the intrinsically safe version of MD9901 detector; it is an automatic addressable “multi-criteria“ detector able to: ■provide fire alarm for smoke presence ■provide fire alarm for high température ■survey the température inside the room where it is installed ■send the analogue values of température and smoke that it measures. The smoke détection unit is of optical type, based on Tyndall effect. It includes a puise type emitter (IR Led) and a receptor (Photo-diode) working in infrared band. located inside the optical chamber, protected from external light but in contact with atmosphère. Smoke inside the chamber causes an increase of the energy received by the photo-diode. The photo-diode analogue value is handled by a conditioning circuit and sent to the microprocessor. The température alarm is generated by a thermistor with a very low time constant.
