The Kong Harald operates in Norwegian waters between Bergen, Trondheim and Kirkenes. She has a royal namesake since she was named after the Norwegian King Harald. More Norwegian celebrities are honoured on board. The Bar, for instance, is named after the polar researcher Fridtjof Nansen, while the Grand Café bears the name of Roald Amundsen, the first man to reach the South Pole.
The Kong Harald was built in cooperation of MEYER WERFT and Volkswerft Stralsund on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the shipping company Hurtigruten. This special occasion is accounted for by interiors adorned with crowns and flowers.
