Serving both Greenshell Limited and Paddy Bull Limited, McMullen & Wing is a trusted provider of vessel maintenance and conversion services. McMullen & Wing was contracted to renew the entire Paddy Bull fleet, refitting, maintaining and upgrading each of these hard working vessels to provide safe and profitable service long into the future. The 24m “Piakonui” and 17m “Riptide” were existing vessels in the Paddy Bull fleet. Both were originally traditional barge hulls with pram bow forms. Mussel barges are hardworking vessels and the very bluff bow form on these boats was not well suited to the often choppy conditions of the Firth of Thames. The vessels’ hard riding motion was detrimental to onboard operations and the constant wave impact on the bow plating was leading to fatigue cracking and increased maintenance costs and downtime.
