Description

A boxcooler is an efficient cooling system designed for installation in all types of ships. The boxcooler cools down the primary circuit using seawater. No water-filters, valves and extra seawater pumps are needed. The boxcoolers can be mounted longitudinal or transversal in the seachest. The boxcoolers can be used in fresh-, brackish water and seawater. The boxcooler will be supplied as a package, complete with a steel welding frame, making drilling and tapping unnecessary. The boxcooler has to be placed in a seachest. To optimize natural circulation and heat-transfer the boxcooler should be installed with a minimum of 150 mm of free space between the tubes and the inside wall of the seachest. The boxcooler can be demounted if the topplate of the seachest is above the waterline. Even when the vessel is afloat. Advantages >A secondary seawater circulation System is not required >No seawater pump and filter means energy and maintenance savings >Less corrosion and fouling >idéal for use in dirty or shallow water and drizzie ice Coating For use in seawater the boxcooler shall be fumished with a heal cured phenolic coating. This coating prevents galvanic corrosion between the boxcooler and seachest. The seachest must hâve sufficient cathodic protection by sacrificial anodes.
