How to choose this product
Ships fans are electric devices composed of a propeller or impeller turning within a fixed housing. They circulate air in confined or hot areas such as the engine room and the galley. Those offered on NauticExpo, are intended for use on freighters, ocean liners and other merchant and commercial vessels.
These fans are indispensable in engine rooms, galleys, cargo holds, workshops and similar areas aboard ships of all types.
There are two main fan systems:
- Axial-flow fans: a motor turns a propeller whose aerodynamic blades generate flow.
- Centrifugal fans: air is drawn into the center of an impeller, accelerated and ejected by centrifugal force toward the outer part of the rotor and into a tube which channels the flow.
Airflow rate depends on propeller diameter and motor power.
How to choose
While centrifugal fans are more durable than axial-flow models, especially in very hot areas, because they are less exposed to dust, they are also less energy-efficient. Fan location and overall ventilation flow paths are of paramount importance when selecting. The placement of fans in a line or offset will greatly affect the amount of space required.
