How to choose this product
Deck shoes constitute an item of protective clothing for sailors.
These shoes are suitable for boating under normal conditions. However, waterproof boots are preferable in foul weather.
For a long time such shoes were exclusively leather moccasins with non-slip rubber soles. Today, some have a superficial resemblance to sports shoes. Materials have evolved as well. In addition to traditional leather, breathable, fast-drying fabrics are increasingly common.
The soles are still made of ribbed rubber. The grooves prevent water from collecting beneath the shoe and grip the deck, even when heeled over. Some models have laces, others Velcro, while some have a simple elastic closure.
How to choose
Models resembling sport shoes are more suitable for racing, where the feet are more likely to get wet. They are made of materials designed to dry faster than leather.
- Efficient slip prevention
- Can be used aboard or ashore
- Not entirely waterproof
