Your suggestions for improvement:
A breakwater is a floating port structure designed to create a sheltered area by blocking the force of oncoming waves and swell. NauticExpo offers reinforced concrete floating breakwaters, wave-attenuating barriers and other versions.
ApplicationsThese structures protect interior port waters and to prevent coastal erosion provoked by waves, swell and currents.
TechnologiesFloating breakwater technology varies from type to type. Reinforced concrete versions are filled with polystyrene for buoyancy. The different elements are joined using stainless steel hardware. The structure can be anchored to the seabed with chains or piles. Breakwaters can be equipped with cleats or bollards, electrical outlets, lighting and other features.
How to chooseChoice will depend on water depth and prevailing weather conditions at the installation site. Special attention must be paid to swell direction and period.
- Easy to transport
- Modular
- Enables work in sheltered water
- Less efficient than non-floating models
