How to choose this product
A boat trim tab is an articulated plate attached to the stern of fast powerboats to adjust trim at speed. Those offered on NauticExpo are intended for use on recreational craft.
These devices are particularly useful on planing hulls, which are difficult to handle if the bow rises too far out of the water.
The two articulated plates mounted on the stern are adjusted up or down by a hydraulic or electromechanical system. They act like horizontal rudders, the hydrodynamic force raising or lowering the bow depending on their angle of attack. Most are of aluminum or stainless steel. Generally, the port and starboard tabs can be adjusted independently, providing lateral trim, as well.
How to choose
Choice will depend on the length, beam and displacement of the boat. The vessel must have an adequate electrical or hydraulic system.
