Microtem

Microtem is an Italian company specialized in the design, manufacture and recondition of mechanical seals and sealing systems for the industrial, Oil and Gas, naval and military sector. In Microtem, every day we talk about innovation and upgrade. This has always been the company's philosophy aimed to develop more and more efficient products, focusing on the needs of our customers. The compnay was founded in La Spezia, and it is still there. Thanks to our location ,near one of the main Italian ports, both for cargo handling and shipbuilding, we had a great experience in reconditioning, over the years, several sealing systems coming from all over the world. The result of this extraordinary experience is our MTM400, the first mechanical seal for propeller shaft which has introduced many innovations, internationally recognised by the EPO (European Patent Office). This sealing system, recognized by many of the professionals as the most advanced and reliable system, now it is installed on yachts, mega yachts, boats and military watercrafts. The MTM400 is followed by the realization of two other important products created to attack the market of small boats, the MTM900 and the MTM901. Here again, our goal is to create a commercially competitive product, equipped with important innovations that would allow to distinguish us from our competitors. The result is a mechanical seal capable of competing with the conventional rubber bellows seals, market leader so far, realized with innovative materials that differentiate it from the other seals . It is, indeed, available in all materials, although the techno polymer is the standard one, as it is flame resistant (Flame Proof). The fact that all components of the mechanical seal are manufactured with CNC machines allows us to create several variants of this mechanical seal and make it the best versatility product , able to fit even the tightest spaces where, until now a frontal seal could not be installed. Our development continues and there are many products that will be presented by Microtem in the naval market, some of them have already been tested.

The several products developed in the naval sector are proof of this. First and foremost the MTM400, first patented system in the world to adopt a double set of springs. Subsequently, the introduction of the MTM900, a mechanical seal directed at the segment of the seals with rubber bellows, but made with innovative technical materials that ensure that it is not subject to aging or wear.

The MTM470 is an example. It is the first mechanical sealing system with an electronic management, which is not only able to provide in real time the actual operating conditions but also to give you, for the first time in the world , the remaining time of operation of the mechanical seal before maintenance. The basic idea? Not have unexpected breakdowns anymore.
The most recent seal is the MTM1000, the first bulkhead sealing device, completely watertight, fire-proofing and provided with a support hydrodynamic bearing for the propulsion axis. This is already preassembled on a cartridge system. Why choose the MTM1000? It reduces costs and components and it offers the maximum reliability.
